Editorial policy
Accuracy first
Numbers carry a data class, a source, and a date. We prefer ranges over false precision, and “we don’t know” over a guess. Estimates are labeled estimates.
Corrections
Found an error? Tell us. We correct promptly and note the correction date on the affected record. Substantive errors get a changelog entry on the relevant page.
Independence
Analysis is produced independently of commercial relationships. See disclosures. Paid placement is always labeled and can never influence data or rankings.
What we will not publish
- Claims that a specific installer or lender is fraudulent without evidence.
- Guaranteed savings, payback, or home-value increases.
- “Free solar” framing without explaining the financial structure.
- Tax, legal, or investment advice (we provide general information and point to professionals).
- Invented ZIP-level price data.
Diversity of data
Where sources conflict (e.g., marketplace vs NREL medians), we show the spread and explain it rather than hiding it.
